Helicopter over NW Florida (Dec 2008)

The pictures in this Gallery were taken from a chartered helicopter flight that started in Ocala, Florida, and headed north to Gainesville where we flew around Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park. Then, we flew southwest to where the Suwannee River meets the Gulf of Mexico. From there, we headed south along the Gulf to and around Cedar Key and back to Ocala. The flight lasted over 3 hours and provided an opportunity to see some of Florida's amazing beauty from the air and capture it in pictures. The timing of the flight could not have been better, since over 5,000 sandhill cranes had recently arrived at Paynes Prairie to spend the winter and can be seen in many of the pictures.

This fabulous experience and beautiful pictures were made possible by my daughter, JulieAnne, who charted the flight for me as a gift for my birthday--a special birthday and very special daughter.
