In my backyard, close to the St. Johns River in Jacksonville, a pair of American Bald Eagles has been visiting every winter, spending time in the tall pine trees. Last year (2013), at least one immature eagle spent time in our pine tree. Another youngster showed up yesterday - May 22, 2014. There isn't a nest nearby, but in the four years that I've lived here, I've been fortunate to observe a number of American Bald Eagles and to photograph them on many occasions. December 2016 - my Winter visitors have still been very consistent arriving when the weather cool.
