River Reach was an attractive apartment community on the St. Johns River in Jacksonville, Florida. Some residents had made it their home for over twenty years. Soaring property values made the community less profitable for the owners. To increase value and profitability, the new owners decided to say "Good Bye" to the many long-time residents and "Hello" to a posh new development out of the reach of most. So we say "Good Bye" to River Reach and "Hello" to "Out of Reach."
It just makes my stomach cringe looking at these photos. I only lived in River Reach for a year in 2004, but it was such a great, beautiful and quiet community. It was the last "affordable" housing right on the river in jacksonville. It was my first place away from home, and me and my friends have such great memories from my old apartment. Them tearing it down is just sickening.
