Well the Chinese tourism authorities have fully succeeded in making what was once probably an attractive destination into a tourist hell hole. I only went to break up my bus trip up to west Sichuan to see the Tibetan villages there (which was declared off limits because monks kept setting themselves alight). Don't bother with this horrible town. Unless you enjoy streets crowded with gift shops, hotels, chic guest houses and absolute HORDES of tourists.
Out the bus window.
The city is overrun with shops
Yak tails, I think.
One or two nice temples in town.
I rented a bicycle and tried to get away from the hordes.
Ran into this lad
Strange canine
One enormous Tibetan monastery about 4 kilometers outside of town.
Where the Han Chinese behave with the legendary cultural sensitivity they are so well known for.
