Went to Yemen, christmas break, 2004/2005. Saw more than Sana'a this time. It is the most amazing place, truly. Every day we woke up and were stunned by what we saw and experienced. Sometimes it was awful, mostly it was great, but it was always fascinating. For pictures of Sana'a, see the Sana'a gallery below, from my first trip to Yemen. This one is primarily out in the country.
Looks exactly like the rock in Sigiriya, Sri Lanka.
Yemenis down by the coast
Mountain village, above the clouds. Lots of this stuff in Yemen
See
Lots of donkeys too
More cloudy villages
Terrace agriculture

Market
Sura sura!
These villages are truly unreal
And the mountains are quite large.

Hudayda: shithole of all shitholes
Metal souq, Sana'a
More Hudayda. Don't let your guide talk you into going here.

Mawhit
Mawhit, the Imam's house is one of those, according to our 9-yr.-old guide, who should have been at madrassas
The ugly american and his guide
Ibb mosque
The dopey soldiers that accompanied us, due to our unforgivable mistake of being Americans
Easter finest
I mean, who knew mountains were this big in Arabia
Absolutely gorgeous. Looking to move to Yemen soon. Your pics are just the inspiration we needed to make our decision. Thanks for both sections of Yemen. Beautiful! Beautiful! Its not to late to come to Islam. Hint* Hint*
