Took the overnight train to Udaipur -- may Sareh and Robin and the others someday forgive me. It wasn't so bad, but for. Well, let's just say if the olympics had snoring contests, India might possibly win a few medals in Beijing this year. But Udaipur was just as dreamy and beautiful as its reputation leads you to believe it will be. A few too many tourist shops and 17 year olds from Europe, but other than that, a very nice place.
Okay but so I didn't have a tripod. The "floating palace" at night.
The main palace, also at night.
Monkeys frolicking by the palace.
This was actually shot on the way to Udaipur, from the train.
Okay, so it doesn't get much dreamier than this.
See
Palatial structure on the lake
Bovine structure on the lake.
Ah, the ghats
A very beautiful city
We think this was in a Jain temple.
In Udaipur, a holy man came up to me and said, "I am holy man, give me money."
