Well, so I finally moved off-campus. A much needed break from the unrelenting western-ness of expat Dubai. I moved to a nice little apartment in an old part of town called Satwa. There's a ton of traffic, mosques all over the place, ancient apartment blocks (ancient in the UAE means about 20 years old.), lots of fabulous eating houses where I can get a meal of vegetarian food for about 2 dollars. And, perhaps best of all, I can walk out my door in the morning and have a few glases of Nescafe with Rainbow condensed milk and a couple spoonfuls of sugar -- for about a quarter.
Life, once again, makes sense. (Sort of -- for now at least)
