This is a very nice pilgrimage town in Maharashtra, though to read LP, you'd never know that. It's not even mentioned and it's misspelled on the map. I stopped here to, again, break up what would otherwise have been a long bus trip and I would say it is one of India's great temple towns. There is one very important temple in the center of the old town, but no photographs are allowed even of the exterior, so you won't see any of it here. I was even yelled at by soldiers for photographing shops NEAR the temple. They said, "security issues." Which is of course insane, but I complied, because there was tons to photograph anyway. But so if you are in Maharashtra, go to Pandharpur. You won't regret it. (You might very well regret going to Kolhapur, which LP for some insane reason recommends.)
I love the contemptuous stares
The biggest piles of red stuff I've seen anywhere
That's the main temple in the background. Forbidden to photograph
Tin
A seriously major wind storm blew through one afternoon
This guy ran out of a shop and asked me to photograph his foot. It looked like this.
Temples by the river
Mocking the foreigner.
Ganpati
Snoozing by the ghats
The river was lively and fun
Riverside temple
I was yelled at for taking this picture
Lots of horse drawn carriages in this town.
I was fascinated by this house.
Pilgrim rest house statuary
Here too.
Again
Inside a sort of strange temple
These things were in a basement I was led to by a friendly soldier
This one I can't figure out

Temple statuary, a guru I'm guessing
The river again
This guy looks very stoned
The old town is very colorful and full of winding alleys
We liked this

Ah, India
That's what it said: Duck.
She made me think of Ibsen.
Nice boats in Pandharpur

So active and alive down by the river
This is shot from across the river, at the Hare Krishna temple
I was shooting the crow, the old lady wandered into my frame
