Not the best city I've ever visited. Too many tourists and there really isn't much to see. There's this big stupid palace, all of 100 years old. And there's not much else. It's a beautiful city and there are plenty of cheap hotels, so it's not like it's painful to be there, but, like Jaipur in the north, I sort of don't get this town's reputation. There was some festival going on when I was there and all the cows were painted. I asked at my hotel, "So, why are all the cows painted?" The kid behind the desk looked at me like I'd just spoken Chinese. "Huh?" I said, "The cows, they are all painted. Why?" He smiled and said he didn't know. I said, "You don't know? EVERY cow in this town is painted yellow and you have no idea why?" He said, "No, I don't know." How do you explain this level of incuriousness? EVERY SINGLE FUCKING COW in town is yellow, and it never occurs to him to, you know, try and figure out why?
Outside the palace, a small temple.
This sort of ferocious looking tiger thingy was cool
From inside the palace compound
A small temple on the walk down a hill
