Mbissa is an island, but it is relatively new island. It was created when the Cameroonian government built a hydroelectric dam and flooded a large part of Bambalang, one of the villages where we did a lot of work. Despite Bambalang having suffered substantial loss of land to flooding for the hydroelectric dam, the village is without electricity. Mbissa is an especially poor part of Bambalang and we donated a roof for a local school and a "truck" (what I would call a wheelbarrow). It was a very beautiful island/village. Seemed to have a large Musliim community. There was an incident with an Osama bin Laden poster in a house we were led to to meet the local elder. I tore it off his wall and used part to pantomime wiping my ass, which was gratifying. The local elder who had it hanging in his house didn't seem terribly amused. But other than this, it was a nice village and I'm glad we were able to help them.
