Chennai was the first city I visited in India way back in 2003. I think I only stayed one day. This time I stayed 3. Not long, sure, but long enough to say that of the three big Colonial era cities, Chennnai, Mumbai and Kolkata, Chennai is by far my favorite. I stayed in Triplicane, just a short walk from a very beautiful beach. The trains are amazing. The people are very friendly and helpful and the food . . . well, I mean, come on. South Indian pure veg restaurants every few meters! My god! My idea of heaven. More idli and dosa than I could force down. And that magical south indian coffee. I stayed at the Paradise Guest House which was amazing at 400 rupees a night. They have a brand new, super clean wing. Ask to stay there.

Back at the beach
Tired, at the beach.
It went as far as I could see in both directions.
Nice sand, nice looking water.
Typical street scene. You can see the different feel from the cities up north.
And the South Indian temples. So much more beautiful than the north.
I could photograph them all day.

The guy on the left asked me to take this photo, then kissed my cheek. In Delhi, they would have asked for baksheesh

I went to Egmore to change my air ticket and passed this billboard. What do you suppose a Meta Realist is?
