The biggest draw in Ethiopia, and a couple of the churches are pretty impressive. The fee to see them is comparable to what you pay to see Angkor Wat (for one day), the Taj Mahal, and about three times what you pay to see the Pyramids of Giza. Are they worth it? Not really. They are nowhere near as enormous, ancient, or spectacular as any of the above. They are nice, and the town itself is quite picturesque, though incredibly poor. We had fun here and if the fee was a bit less, I'd've been happier.
