Gallle

So I was sitting in the Indian embassy in Colombo waiting for that oh-so precious indian visa and this woman from the Slovak Republic and i started talking. She'd been living in Sri Lanka for a year and suggested I definitely not miss a little town called Galle. She was cute, even though she teased me mercilessly about being a spoiled American for having to actually wait for a visa, and so I took her up on her suggestion to take a bus to Galle.

Never doubt a Slovak.

Galle was great. An old Portuguese or Dutch of something evil Euro-outpost on the southern tip of the island, the town is made up of an old fort, with walls about 20 feet thick, or so they seemed. It's quiet, peaceful, small, and the families all walk along the wall of the fort by the water at dusk. Quite nice.
