What a great city. Fell madly in love with Dar. My guide book had me absolutely terrified of the place, so I spent a day sitting in my hotel room, but then I got some courage and went out and had a great couple of days just wandering around. I didn't really leave the city center, so that is all I can talk about it, but it seemed perfectly safe. I had my camera out all day and never felt remotely threatened. Don't know how this place got the reputation my guide book pretty clearly said it had. The Indian presence really made me feel at home. There are Hindu temples and even a Jain temple -- the first I have seen anywhere outside of India.
