Cairo

Went to Cairo for a conference for my job. A three day event was transformed into a six-day tour. In many ways, I loved Cairo, in others I was only somewhat impressed. But, like Kolkata and Mexico City, it's a big and sprawling but very cultured. You can feel the history, the literariness. There are some great old buildings, some amazing villas, and the corniche along the Nile is as lively as Chicago's lakefront park, though fewer (by 100%) rollerbladers in bikinis.
