Alexandria

Took a long weekend in Alexandria, four or five days, depending on how you define day, I guess. Four nights in the Cecil, overpriced but nice. I mostly worked on my novel --- Yes, I'm actually writing again. But when I wasn't writing, I had some nice walks around the admittedly quite small bit of the city I saw. I did absolutely no sight-seeing. Had very nice lattes, 5 pounds!, at the Brasil Coffee Stores. Man, so good. But, no visits to the Alexandria Biblioteque, the palaces, ruins. I did learn how to say Alexander the Great in Arabic, though, and that made me happy. As a child, Alexander the Great was my hero. In Arabic: Skandar al Akhbar. So but these are just the typical sort of candid street shots I enjoy so much. Lonely walls, markets, urban farm animals.

There were all the soldiers outside this building. I mean a LOT. I was walking by one day, saw a Star of David. It's a synagogue
