Flying Stick, Pseudophasma bispinosum (Pseudophasmatidae)

Yasuní National Park, Prov. Orellana, Ecuador

Many walkingsticks are capable of producing an acrid fluid with a disagreeable odour. This fully-winged individual is being bitten by three biting midges (Forcipomyia sp.), two of which are grossly swollen with the phasmid's haemolymph.
