Forcepsfly (Merope tuber), family Meropeidae

Guelph, Ontario

Size: 10 mm
Female. The sole North American member of this family, and one of only three species known worldwide. Although forcepsflies can easily be collected in malaise traps in hardwood forests, these insects are very rarely seen alive.
