Ardenvoir 2008 Swallow Festival

27th Annual Ardenvoir Swallow Festival...
This is big doings in the little berg called "Ardenvoir, WA"... population 44. There is an official observer who records the date and time that the first Argentinian violet-green swallow returns to old Mill Town. This year's winner of the "guess when the swallows will return contest" was honored by wearing the official "crocheted beer can tiara" and appeared waving to the crowd in the first "float" of the parade. Edie, who owns Coopers Cafe, put on a great party with good food, a beer garden, treats for the kids, and local craft booths. This was definitely a party to remember, and was well attended by Car enthusiasts, Bikers (with absolutely gorgeous machines lining the road), and residents from all over the Entiat River Valley.

I have very happy memories of Ardenvoire & Coopers' and all who were a part of my two children , Mark & Danielle Bash childhood. Wow 44 population now! We lived at the 15 mile marker. Although we wer'nt there for long, those of you made a great impact on us. Lori do you still live there? Mark moved back to Wenatchee, were he lives now. Danielle stayed in Seattle. Hope all is well at Coopers...do you still offer a free Birthday Buckhorn?

Terrie...the name of this year's Swallow Queen is Lacy Barns. Newt was the official spotter, but he died a few years ago. The new spotter is Tim Olinghouse. (I think that's his last name.)
