Tiger lily, Lilium columbianum
A lovely day in Seattle, a rare treat indeed. The sunshine gave
me a great reason to get out in the local foothills and give the
old rickety knees a field test. We walked up the easy trail to the
top of Little Si in North Bend, and were delighted along the way
with dappled lighting dripping through the dense green canopy
overhead, highlighting various enticements along the forest floor.
This little Tiger Lily had just the perfect spotlight making its way
through the trees above. This specimen has seen better days,
but the lighting here is what grabbed my attention.
It was a lovely day, and my knees did fairly well adapting to trail-life.
Although, as we made our way down hill, I don't really understand how all of those old ladies and
toddlers could be passing me as though I were not moving at all.
