Raised from eggs supplied from captive, but originally native stock. Photographed on buttonbush, a plant on which I have found wild larva on in eastern Massachusetts.
My family found one of these on a willow tree at Lake Ontario in upstate New York. We watched it weave an intricate cocoon using willow leaves. We look forward to hopefully watching it emerge in the spring
