It looked bone-chillingly cold out the third-floor newsroom window of the Ann Arbor New building
just after dawn this morning. The smoke in the distance is coming from the University of Michigan
power plant. We apparently had something called frozen fog overnight because when I was driving
into work, every light had a tall vertical ray emitting from it, a strange but beautiful sight. And when I
came down into the lobby of the parking structure this morning, there were about eight homeless
people camped out there, compared to the usual one or two.
