Oct. 9, 2004 - On Golden Pond

Manistee, Michigan

I went for an early morning walk in the dunes Saturday and found this canoe on the edge of a pond.
Just behind the pond and the rise in the sand dunes is Lake Michigan. It was a spectacular morning,
with low hanging clouds and a stiff breeze. You can see more photos in my Manistee gallery.

I saw this shot long before I joined Pbase, it's such a fine shot. I like the horizon, it helps pull your eye into the shot. Beautiful work.

What a lovely composition and great light! I personally would like the horizon to be rotated a bit to the right.

Really nice - I like the way you framed this, I like the choice of wide-angle, I like the detail in the forground grasses (so sharp!) and I want to jump in that canoe.
