Ah, remember the days when you were a student and could lie reading on the grass
on a beautiful fall day, like this woman on the Diag at the University of Michigan?
The mood is delightful: it suggests relaxation and the broadening of one's horizons. I am gently forced to concentrate on the activity by the depth of field and lack of colors.
Yes, I remember well my college days: it was a time of great freedom and adventure. But it was tainted with fear, doubt, and frustration. How I managed to finish college I don't know. It's an experience I would never want to repeat. Now, older and wiser---and retired---I can lie on the grass at will and read, watch, or photograph, and not have to worry about term papers, book reports, classes, and grades.

very nice, atmospheric shot. wonder if there's any vodka in that drink bottle?
I remember. And I'd like to go back and do it all over again. Of course, there's a few things I'd do differently...but that's another story. Good capture.
I remember laying on the grass reading, but it was rarely anything I actually *wanted* to read :) She may look relaxed, but I bet she's stressing about the 10 page term paper she has to write about that book. LOL. Great shot nonetheless. Very representative of college life.
