After leaving Hackberry Flat and heading home, just as we turned north from Highway 5, we noticed our FOS Scissor-Tail Flycatcher on a power line on the east side of the road--a rosy-breasted beauty

Taken through our back window.  The blackbird seemed to prefer the company of the cowbirds and flew into the neighbors' yard with a half-dozen of them and foraged in the grass before coming back into our yard with them.

There were high winds (67mph), a high of only mid-50s today, and it was to get into the 30s tonight.  The birds seemed to know it and flocked to our feeders and seed on the ground.  This is the most goldfinches we have seen in a while.

Carolina wren seemed to be making an alert call (repeated upward trill) over and over, rather than singing.

We listened to this brown thrasher sing his mimicking song loudly for 5 minutes before flying away.

On the northwest side of the lake, just before 36th Street, we saw what appeared to be a young Baltimore Oriole.
