Highway contractors chose artists Frederico Vigil, Anthony Dorame and George Rivera to design the bridge artwork. Rivera, lieutenant governor of Pojoaque pueblo, came up with the designs for the Cuyamungue and Pojoaque overpasses. The words "K'uuyemugeh" and "P'osuwageh"— the Tewa names for the two communities— are written on the center of the overpasses.
