We had heard that Northern Gannets were being seen offshore, so we went to look for them. For the second time today, though, we did not find our quarry. Instead, we saw this 1st winter Herring Gull on the beach; per Bill D: note dark holly leaf pattern on scapulars, a classic mark of juvenile Herring Gulls, though most seen in OKC have molted these feathers by January. The light panel of inner primaries is a classic mark for 1st year Herring Gulls.
