Last day of our visit with Jan, before leaving for Ft Myers.

We made it to John and Debbie's house and they took us to one of their favorite eating places, the Shrimp Shack. After a great meal and visit, we drove on to our hotel in St Petersburg.

We met Jeremy, Devon and Max for breakfast, then went back to their house.

After breakfast at Keke's, Jeremy showed us the standing workstation he has in his office in their 'cottage.' Levi was not interested.

Outside, in their courtyard, Jeremy showed us their raised gardens, where they were growing habanero peppers, big heirloom tomatoes, broccoli and herbs. The handsaw was for cutting dead branches off their big palms.

Jeremy cleaned the trap to the pool while Grandpa and Levi looked on helpfully.

The section of the house on the other side of the patio was an addition by the previous owner that connected two previously-separate buildings on the property. Now it is a large, open living space with the kids rooms on the left and Jeremy and Cindy's space on the right.

Mary noticed they have an external tankless water heater.

In the afternoon, we drove to Ft DeSoto State Park, where Seth, Angela, Pierce and Max met us. Jeremy and Seth played catch with the football with the boys on the beach, then got in the water. Grandma and Angela roamed the beach and watched the boys, while Grandpa wandered around looking for birds to photograph (see https://pbase.com/spd881/fl_2023_02_12_20 for bird photos).

While I was taking photos of birds on the beach, a woman told me about an owl nest. So, we followed her directions and found this adult Great Horned Owl with a chick in a nest on top of a dead palm tree.

Then Grandma spotted a second chick and everyone got good looks with the binoculars.

After we left the park, Jeremy took us to John's Pass Marina. We apparently didn't take any people pictures there, but Grandma got a good photo of this Brown Pelican on a pier in the harbor. Then we all had ice cream and pizza, in that order, before turning in for the evening.

After the football game, we all went to Smashburger for lunch.

After lunch, the kids went to the beach again and back to Jeremy and Cindy's for a swim, while Grandma and Grandpa went to Boyd Hill Nature Preserve to look for birds.

Looks like Levi got in for a swim too.

We all met for supper at Kobe's for Japanese food. Our waiter's name was Precious.

Jeremy ordered a special sake that was served cold.

Early Sunday morning, we all gathered at Dolphin Landings Charter Boat Center for the fishing trip Jeremy arranged for us. Note the sign about the probability of dolphin sightings.

The only birds we got photos of on our last day--the day of our fishing trip--were these Brown Pelicans, that came up to our boat as soon as we docked.

The Brown Pelicans seemed to be expecting a handout after our boat came into dock.
