If you look closely, you can see two eggs in the nest.

One of the cranes settles in on the nest and eggs.

The other Sandhill Crane walked up to the edge of the path to forage, very near where we were standing.

Steve and Jan had to back up to get a full image of the Sandhill Crane as it walked up to them.

After lunch we drove to Black Point Drive on Merritt Island.
There were lots of Long-billed Dowitchers and other shorebirds (all in bad light).

Near the end of the drive, we spotted several cars stopped with people standing beside the road with cameras, binoculars and spotting scopes. We thought they might be watching nesting eagles, but it was a Great Horned Owl.
