2023 Costa Rica Trip, Day 1

We flew into San José, Costa Rica, on Monday, May 27, and went to the Hotel Bougainvillea, where we settled in and then looked for birds on their 10-acre property.

Mottled Owl Our first life bird of the trip was this owl that roosted regularly in a big copse of bamboo on the grounds of the hotel.

Our first life bird of the trip was this owl that roosted regularly in a big copse of bamboo on the grounds of the hotel.

 The bamboo was 4-5 in diameter.
