These two Crested Guans had a face-off near our room.

They started crouching and hopping up in the air.

We weren't sure whether they were fighting or courting.

As we were leaving Arenal to head back to San José, Erick spotted a Sunbittern flying along the river where we'd seen the tiger-heron the last few days.

Unfortunately, the Sunbittern kept going down the river toward the sun and away from us as we stood on the bridge watching.

The Sunbittern stopped and took a look back at us before moving on.

We caught a little glimpse of the Sunbittern's colorful wings as it moved farther away.

We stopped at the Lake Arenal dam and walked up the trail to look for a potoo, but found a Piratic Flycatcher instead.
