Portrait of a Redshank - part of the captive collection in the Wadershore Aviary. I could have sat in the aviary all day! I had Redshank and Ruff wandering around my feet at times. It was amazing to see such beautiful birds up so very close.

Black-winged Stilt in the Wadershore Aviary. I've wanted to see one of these for a long time and although not a wild bird, to see it in such close proximity was mind-blowing!

This little Robin was determined to cheer up the gloomy weather by singing his little head off!

Jackdaws are one of my favourite birds to watch but I don't often photograph them. I love their intelligence and sometime comedic human mimicry as they appear to be thinking about how to solve a problem; usually involving food!

Well hello there! This Jackdaw certainly had a bit of swagger!

Jackdaw portrait - such an intense stare! Whatever I did (or didn't do) with the camera settings, the bird does appear rather light. Having said that, I love the contrast the blown out background and colours.
