_SUE4891.jpgSnow Bunting - There was a flock around 12 or so birds and distant - so even with 900mm they were still very small in the frame and I've cropped the images too, so the quality won't be all that. |
_SUE4924.jpgSnow Bunting - Holkham, Norfolk. |
_SUE4914.jpgSnow Bunting having a bit of wing stretch! Distant bird and cropped image. |
_SUE4937.jpgSnow Bunting - distant bird and cropped image - so cut though. The seem to have a 'sugar puff' for a beak! |
_SUE4949.jpgSnow Bunting - again! Sorry. |
_SUE4988.jpgRock Pipit - Holkham - distant and cropped image. |
_SUE4995.jpgSleeping Pink Foot Geese - I know this because they were not sleeping when I saw them earlier! There were other about too grazing, but this line of sleeping bird appealed to me aesthetically so I chose the edit this one. |
_SUE5004.jpgBarn Owl - hunting over RSPB Titchwell Marsh - seen from the path just below the visitor centre. It had been there quite a few days and we becoming a bit of photo celebrity too! |
_SUE5011.jpgLong-tailed Tit - such a fluffy, cute little bird - love them! Perfect for Valentine's day too! The only downside using the 2x at f8 the ISO shot up to 3200 because this little bird was in shade, but at least I didn't need to crop much - just enough to frame the subject a little better than the RAW image. |
_SUE5026.jpgBrent Geese - I love these little Geese - they have a lovely relaxing call which I can show on a photo but if you go to RSPB Frampton Marsh where they get 1000s of them in, you can listen all day at this time of year. |
_SUE5033.jpgGrey Plover - very like a Golden Plover but silver, grey in colour rather than golden brown. It's a distant shot but having caught the bird having a little stretch, I thought I'd just add it to the gallery. |
_SUE5037.jpgDrake Teal showing off his 'quiff' to best advantage! Love the creamy colour in the tweedy feathers on the back. |
_SUE5042.jpgRed Shank looking for devious, wiggly things! |
_SUE5064.jpgA Parcel of Oystercatchers on the beach at Titchwell - taken in the afternoon and light was lovely - soft and rendering all those muted colours that I associate with the coast. |
_SUE5048.jpgA Colony of Avocets over the reserve at RSPB Tichwell - beautiful birds - was please I didn't just silhouette them - the striking colours show wonderfully against the soft blue of the afternoon sky. |
_SUE5094.jpgA Stonechat on the path approaching the hides at NWT Cley Marshes. Another golden day; the light in Norfolk is sometimes so special. Stonechat's are one of my favourite birds - their habit of perching as they look for food makes them seem so busy, up and down they go, back and forth. Very characteristic. |
_SUE5109.jpgWhite-fronted Geese. What a treat. Some chaps we met at Holkham had walked miles there see some distant WF geese, and here were a dozen or so sunning themselves at the hides at Cley! Sweet! |
_SUE5140.jpgMarsh Harrier hunting over the reed beds at Cley - fantastic to think these birds are now 'back from the brink' and almost a common occurance at north Norfolk reserves now. |
_SUE5141.jpgMarsh Harrier hunting |
_SUE5142.jpgAnother in the sequence of the Marsh Harrier surveying the reed bed. |
_SUE5143.jpgMarsh Harrier hovering...about to dive for dinner! |
_SUE5151.jpgMarsh Harrier making a low pass over the reed bed - great perspective in this shot, I thought. |
_SUE5216.jpgLittle Egret gliding gracefully over the heath adjacent to RSPB Titchwell in the evening light. |
_SUE5218.jpgLittle Egret - graceful and elegant birds, I think. Another 'back from the brink' - a rarity 20 years ago - seen here gliding gracefully over the heath adjacent to RSPB Titchwell in the evening light. |
