The Elvi are a four-piece Rock Unit formed a few years back in Lake County, Illinois. Since that time, a few local music fans have learned to expect high-energy performances, aggressive rock riffs, and lyrical attempts at wit from the ensemble, while many others have yet to be suckered by the band’s cheap stunts.
In 2001 The Elvi recorded their album, Indestructible Suit, at Million Yen Studios in Chicago, finishing just in time for a tour to the west coast. (And back, because friends don’t let friends move to California.) Previous to this year, The Elvi’s noise could be heard on the compilation cd, The Sounds of Urban Sprawl, produced by the Lake County Record Collective, a group of local musicians they helped to get off the couch and do some work.
Lately, the members of The Elvi, Justin Boller on bass guitar, Justin Essenpreis on guitar and vocals, Matt Koschak on drums and Chris Storbeck on guitar and vocals, might be found begging family members to buy copies of Indestructible Suit, telling high school girls about the times they opened for Local H and Hum, or promoting their regional appearances
