Pengelipuran Village is a "showcase" village in Bali meant primarily for tourists. I have no doubt that it's a real village with real people living real lives there, but it's more or less ascended into the ranks of showcase village as they have kept their village operating on a more or less traditional level in order to attract tourist $$s. The village is sealed off from modern paved roads (like a separate enclosure), tourists entering have to pay an entry fee, and I believe they might be given support by the government as well. Pics aren't as interesting as my last visit, as village was pretty empty this visit--probably due to the time of the visit and the coinciding with the full moon maybe?. All in all though, a nice place to visit.
