My Grandmother's maiden name was Spangenberg and she used to be invited to the reunion until she married and her name changed.. My family is from Germany.

Hello,
I am the decendent of the Spangenberg family. My grandfather was Howard E Spangenberg. It is my understanding that the Spangenberg afmily does a reunion every couple of years at Castle Spangenberg. Is this true?

My 5th great grandfather was Ferdinand Von Spangenberg. Whom supposedly married a peasant woman and was dismissed from the castle and eventually moved to New Jersey with his wife and 2 daughters. I have names...but thats all from that point due to the fact our family is widely dispersed. If you have any info....? :)

I am delighted at having discovered the photographs of the castle at Spangenberg. My father was a prisoner of war in the castle for four years during the second world war and I intend making a pilgrimage visit later this year (2009). The camp was known as OFLAG 9AH and I believe there was also a lower POW camp near to the adjacent town.

My 3rd great grandfather was Friedrich D. von Spangenberg (b. 1785). In 1870, he was living in Morrisania, New York with his son's family (my 2nd great grandfather, Ferdinand von Spangenberg, a reknowned portrait artist).
