Glad to see you posting again, Chris. This hand suggests a gesture of repose. The slight blur, causing lack of detail, gives the gesture a timeless cast. Somebody mentioned Dorthea Lange's migrant workers -- images made 70 years ago during the great depression. This eloquent photograph looks as if it comes from that time, where most people earned their livelihoods with their hands, and when their hands were stilled by economic adversity, their entire lives were put on hold. Such is the feeling here.
