I find this picture striking in its almost-monochromatic starkness. The branches bifurcate and spread like wings, ready to greet the unwanted warm temperatures. He thrives in the cold of dark winter. He withers under the glare of the sun. The falling snow tries to save him, but it is not to be. A yearly rital of the forces of beneficence overcoming the Dark Side.
