This device poured molton iron into forms for heavy
enamel cookware still in use today. Now it rests here as
a museum curiosity in the Dutch town of Ulft. The area
was rich in iron ore for local foundries. As a teenager,
my husband spent summers working at the foundry. His
father, grandfather and others before them spent their
lives around the blazing furnaces.
