Another old shot that I liked just not enough to post at the time. It is not that I did not like it, I just did not like it at the time. I look at it now, after adjusting the exposure down to get rid of the blown highlights... better. Wish I had some nice white puffy clouds.
In this photograph, a lone century cactus sits against a large sandstone boulder. Behind it are Hoodoos that surround the Freemont Saddle area of the Peralta trail. In the third level is the sky that stands in stark blue contrast to the rest of the scene. This image was not achieved by using a polarizer or split grad filter. It was taken in the early morning sun (8:00) and to keep the bright sandstone exposed correctly required the sky to be very saturated and dark. I like that look.
