Salt and Flowers : Death Valley

Death Valley National Park

This is a very high resolution panoramic image of the Valley Floor showing the prolific (for Death Valley as I understand it) flowers. As I had said earlier, most are of the Yellow variety. This shot was taken close to the old Borax Mining Facility: http://www.pbase.com/snoyes/image/40914666

One of the more intriguing aspects is that anything can grow in the soil at all yet alone an abundance of wild flowers. Not only is the soil very rocky and dry, it has an amazing salt content. As you stay in the valley, slat deposits on every thing. Your cloths, car your skin.
