This storm had come in from the East with nothing but clear in the far Western skies. The Sun ripped up the Phoenix pollution, through a series of showers and illuminated the red and yellow sandstone found in this area of the Superstition Mountains. By the time the Sunlight made it to Fish Creek Hill, it was so colored as to warp the entire landscape to a surreal painting.
Also, there is a vertical take on this image with a WB set closer to 3300K making the image a bit cooler and the colors looking more "natural" albeit not accurate.
