This storm had come in from the East with nothing but clear in the far Western skies. The Sun ripped up the Phoenix pollution, through a series of showers and illuminated the red and yellow sandstone found in this area of the Superstition Mountains. By the time the Sunlight made it to Fish Creek Hill, it was so colored as to warp the entire landscape to a surreal painting.
The Sun is lighting up this Ocotillo Cactus with its last light while backlighting the near by rains in the warmth of last light.
There is a second take of this image using a very very cold WB of 2300K. While the colors look more slightly natural in the second image, rest assured the second image represents substantial color tweaking on the image.
