We had one of the local lakes be host to 2 Great Blue Herons (GBH) and several Egrets over the last 3-4 days. At their peak, there were over 40 birds fishing the banks. Being a small lake, however, the lake was quickly fished out of the small prey that these birds enjoy and they went on.

From a photographic standpoint, this was hard because the lake is a basic Arizona Sub-division lake with 12" concrete side walls and no bank that allows for the birds to wade in. But I was happy with this small collection of images in part because of the 400mm f2.8 lens. The full sized images really do look much better than the thumbnail images in most of these. The larger image really blurs out the background putting the emphasis on the birds. The Thumbs almost have the background in focus because they are so small.
