History Channel's "The Universe"

These are shots of the filming of part of an epsisode of the History Channel's "The Universe". This episode will be episode 14 "Nebulas" from season 3. This is a weekly series. They did not want to shoot in my observatory as it was "too small" so we used the OCA's observatory with the 22" Kuhn telescope. This was shot on a cold and cloudy night, they used a lot of lights, we never opened the roof, and in true Hollywood style, everything was staged! :-) It was interesting and fun, I was kind of nervous, there were a number of club members who were watching during the filming. It was shot on high definition video. There was the writer/director Darryl, camera man Jason and production assistant Jeff. I was asked questions about cameras and filters and how long it took to take images of nebulas and why I liked to take pictures of nebulas, everything was kept simplistic as they did not want to take a lot of time explaining things, it will be interesting how much ends up on the editing block. Update, the episode "Nebulas" is scheduled to air on April 1st, 2008 at 9pm.
