The lens save my Canon 5D MarkII. The camera with the lens on, fell out of my backpack and landed on the front of the lens before hitting anything else. This broke the lens in half, but the 5DMarkII was completely unscathed. No visible marks on the camera body. I will have it checked out, and Canon said this lens may be repairable, and recommended bringing it in, I was going to toss it and buy another. We shall see!
