We have been here since Nov 2006 and have had incredible birding experiences. All the birds have been photographed on our property.
In 2007 there was an 'irruption' of the finches as they headed south in search of food. Click on the first photo and it will take you into the finch photo gallery.
During 2007 and onwards the Black-capped chickadees fed from our hands during the entire year. Once they were comfortable, it did not take them long to fly into our hands and land with a thud! Apparently a chickadee can remember where it stashed its seeds up to 28 days later. I had an incredible experience when an adult and juvenile Black-capped chickadee were on a branch. The adult landed on my hand, stayed for a few seconds, then went back onto the branch. The juvenile did the same thing while the adult watched. Never a dull moment!!
