As autumn approaches the sounds of Sandhill Cranes fill the air. They wake us in the morning as they head out to feed at neighbouring fields and let us know when they are retuning to the marsh for the night. We can also expect to hear the Trumpeter Swans call as they fly overhead. As we putter in the garden, the Sandhill Cranes, Great Blue Herons and Great Egrets fly overhead, some are so low that you can hear their wing beats as they silently drop down into the marsh.
Even though reverse migration is upon us we can still anticipate seeing a variety of birds as they settle into the marsh for the night. The other awe inspiring event is the change in colour of the leaves!
