2016: Returned early after a mild winter ... hatched 5 cygnets
The female trumpeter swan was sitting on her nest on April 15, 2016. Their nest was ~ 75m off the road when coordinates were obtained . They were further south and west compared to last year. Both are utub ... we believe they are 20933 & 20934 who have been nesting here since 2007. Remembering that 20934 has permanent injury on L foot which was sustained last spring. We usually see cygnets by first week of June. They were spotted across the road in our marsh on May 19, 2016. They were depredated within the first week of life. This is a hostile environment for Trumpeter Swan cygnets.
