In my continuing efforts to photograph the therapy dogs of the SPCA, today I found myself at the local VA hospital and nursing home.
The gentleman pictured here spoke quite openly of his feelings about our involvement in Iraq.
I don't mean to sound trite, but as I go to these places with the elderly and infirm,
I am moved and humbled by the power of the human spirit.
This photo might well be better without the selective coloring but I've put in the effort so I am posting it this way.
Now for my two cents :) I like the selective color and think the choice of making the general B/W was a good one... as far as you went. I think I would have continued and reduced the saturation on the flag background to a point of subtlty and then give the the entire photo a general warm or olive tone.
I look forward when I'm on Pbase to seeing your portraits... both human and canine.
Have a great weekend.
Brian
I think he needs to stand out from that strong image of the flag, and the b/w treatment did that fairly well.
The image itself is quite moving, and I'm also touched by your comments regarding the power of the human spirit.
